Out of Nashville by way of Australia comes a duo that mixes country with some indie music, a touch of Americana and some folk music and that is "Souly Us". "Souly Us" is made up of couple Kate Appleyard and Ben Mawdsley and th their new single entitled “Everything Has Changed”, which seems appropriate given the worldwide pandemic that all of us are experiencing.
The Australian pair came to Nashville in 2018 and wrote some material and flew back to Australia in order to expand their fanbase. Their debut single entitled “Meant To Be” received significant airplay in Australia and took home a couple of awards, including “APRA AMCOS New Songwriter of the Year” from the Tamworth Songwriter’s Association in 2019.
Now the Country music duo Souly Us are ready to take the ever-growing genre by storm with the release of their gorgeous new single ‘Everything Has Changed’ which showcases their stunning vocal harmonies and standout songwriting talent. Their latest offering was recorded and produced at their home-studio during lockdown restrictions in Australia earlier this year and that at-home vibe has certainly seeped into their sound ensuring their lyrics connect deeper than ever and their vocals shine bright throughout.
Taking inspiration from the world around them, Ben and Kate can literally write and perform their music anywhere, when not restricted by COVID. Their original soulful sound is captivating audiences across Australia and beyond with their catchy lyrics echoing in people's hearts and minds.
This young coastal Victorian duo share dreams, hope, love and connection through their music. With Kate’s warm angelic voice and Ben’s rhythmic and passionate artistry on guitar they love playing to audiences who enjoy their poetic sound and life rich lyrics.
Ben and Kate first joined as a duo in January 2018. They started performing cover songs from a variety of modern Country musicians and Pop artists in their local area. They started writing their original songs in March 2018 and at short notice decided to jump on a plane and fly to Nashville to visit Music City and experience what it was like to be in the Country Music capital of the world.
Their first single, 'Meant to Be’ was released 2018. An upbeat, fun tune, inspired by young love and Summer beach night. They were delighted it received airplay on radio stations Australia wide and took home ‘APRA AMCOS New Songwriter of the Year’ from the Tamworth Songwriters Association(TSA) 2019.
Inspired by their surroundings they wrote original material whilst abroad and came home to Australia with aims to create a larger fan base and give music all the energy and focus they have. They got straight into writing, planning, recording, producing and mastering four tracks for their EP ‘Hello World’ released January 12th 2019 debuting at No.5 on the iTunes Country Music Charts and No.75 on the iTunes Music Charts all genres. This release was the duo’s first larger project which they created completely on their own and describe as being their ‘hello to the world’, their introduction with a bang to the Country Music Industry.
Getting the opportunity to play the Sounds of Summer Festival led them to experience their debut television performance on ‘Live at the Spectrum’ in March 2019. April 25 2019 saw them release their second single ‘My Soldier’ debuting at #10 on the iTunes Country Music Charts. They donated funds to the Australian War Memorial and The Legacy in respect of ANZAC DAY with every pre-order. Having been an opening act for Shannon Noll and The Eurogliders they are busy planning a tour to promote their debut album.
‘Alive’ was released in September 2019 and peaked at no.13 on the iTunes Country Music Charts and with their self produced music video for ‘Alive’ making it to the top finals in the World Songwriting Awards.
They were the winner of ‘Best Americana Album’ in the Clouzine International Music Awards for Spring and of 'Best Americana Album' in The Akademia Music Awards February 2020.
With their signature easy listening style and drive to pursue their dreams, there is nothing stopping them. Lyrics like ‘Life has dealt me some hard times but i’m thankful for every road i’ve travelled down’ make "Souly Us" well worth a listen. Already major stars in their homeland, Souly Us are now ready to break the international market with ‘Everything Has Changed’ which is their very first single being sent to the US market following on multiple award wins and nomination’s alongside major chart success Down Under.
