Katy Hurt has unveiled her second Canadian single, “Wish I Could Give You Up”, which follows the previously released “Sounds Good In A Bar.”   “Wish I Could Give You Up” is the second single from Katy's upcoming debut album.   In this latest up-tempo single, she pens an open letter to her greatest love and vice, music.

Katy has stated,  "This song comes from a very personal place, I’ve given my whole life to music since I was little and it genuinely has been a journey of high high’s and low low’s. Writing this song was a way of accepting that journey and realizing that songwriting and creativity have become my vice through the years. The cool thing about songs is that the stories can be universal, so when we were writing this track we wanted to make sure that people who weren’t also musicians would be able to relate. So whether your vice just so happens to be music or even another person, it’s a song about knowing when something is meant to be."

Katy Hurt is  a Country singer-songwriter who was born in London England, raised in the states, and whose  music has truly taken her all over the world.   This multination residency also explains Katy's international appeal.

Emerging as one of the most prominent artists from the UK music scene, BCMA nominee Katy Hurt has won accolades such as the UK Country Music Spotlight Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year, Best EP, Best Song and Best Video and played major festivals such as Country 2 Country at the O2 Arena, Pilton Party on Glastonbury’s famed Pyramid Stage and the Isle of Wight festival.   Katy's EP, current singles and upcoming debut album to be released soon were all written and recorded in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  Having finished a 17 date tour across the UK she headed to Toronto Canada to perform at Canadian Music Week.

Katy considers her second home, writing and recording a host of songs including her single “Sounds Good In A Bar”, which went to Number 1 on the UK iTunes charts on the day of release and was subsequently added to rotation on CBC and Sirius XM and play-listed on Amazon Music. The track which was produced by Juno Award-winning producer Murray Pulver (Doc Walker, The Bros. Landreth) marked the first single from her upcoming debut album.

Katy's  songs straddle the line between Southern Rock, Modern Country and Americana and are upheld by buoyant and agile vocals.  With nearly a million global streams, Hurt garnered the attention of Canadian-based music group, Johnson Talent Management (JTM) which recently led to the signing of a worldwide management deal.  Hurt’s voice has been said to take Dolly Parton’s twang and Beth Ditto’s soul entwined to a unique gift to Country music.

Hurt is also one of those rare talents that can write and perform with equal impact.  Katy Hurt’s self-released EP which produced the Top 20 hit singles "Revved Up"and "Unfinished Business" garnered her a 5 star review with comments such as  “incredible vocals, slick guitar work, excellent rhythm and – most importantly – superb songs” with “raw talent seeping through each track”.

According to Katy, recording the EP was a special and highly memorable experience. “There was thick snow on the ground when we travelled to Winnipeg. It was minus 30°C outside. We created a cosy atmosphere in the studio and locked ourselves inside for a week. Murray (Juno Award-winning Producer Murray Pulver) shared our vision of how the band should sound and added his magic to create some songs we are really proud of”. On their return to Europe the band then drove to the searing heat of the Spanish desert to make videos for some of the songs. “We made our own spaghetti western for Revved Up and managed to trash a Jeep. Very rock ‘n’ roll!” said Katy.

Haunting Blues vocals, towering Country Rock guitars, even a Reggae vibe can be found in live performances. Katy has toured with Gangstagrass, the ground-breaking New York band who created the unlikely Bluegrass/Hip-Hop fusion.  2019 saw Katy Hurt perform in excess of 100 shows across two UK tours, as well as international dates in Canada, the US and the Caribbean. Having performed support slots for Liam Gallagher and The Bellamy Brothers, this demonstrates her quality and versatility.

Although Katy Hurt's music is steeped in Country roots it never yields to the traditional Nashville sound stretching the Country music genre in exciting new directions. Katy Hurt  is a true rising star  of Country music with an  international  appeal for her stunning and unique brand of Country music.
