This Country artist is here with a brand new jam, Krissy Feniak is quickly making waves in the music industry. Krissy's biggest hits so far include “Break up Break Down” and “Days”. Now, she’s back with a music video for her April 8th release entitled “Far From Home”. “Far From Home” comes on the heels of Feniak’s current single, “Break Up Break Down".
The inspiration behind this single was the songwriter’s personal move from Canada to Nashville, “This song is a really special one for me. Moving to Nashville was the easiest and hardest thing I’ve ever done. Hope y’all love this one”– Krissy Feniak
“When my friend Kinslee Melhorn and I finished writing this song I remember thinking, this is so close to my heart I don’t know if I could release this. “When I started playing this song at shows, people would come up to me and tell me their stories about their kids moving away or moving away from home themselves. Having strangers connect to your song and your story is the very best part about being a songwriter and artist, and it made releasing this song as the next single a very easy decision, ” Krissy explained.
“Far From Home” is reminiscent of Feniak’s wistful move to Nashville and is available across all streaming platforms. The now Nashville-based artist was inspired to write the track, reliving her bittersweet decision of moving away from her hometown of Drayton Valley, Alberta. “Far From Home” speaks for itself, as Feniak relocated over 2,000 miles away to live out her dreams of an aspiring Country artist. Produced by Grady Saxman at Saxman Studios, this stand-alone track is consistent with her often recognizable nature of writing authentic and honest music.
“Far From Home” lives up to Feniak’s continuous theme and style of personal storytelling, as this track resides extremely close to her heart. Feniak shares, “This song means so much to me, it comes from a very special place in my heart. I am so close to my family, and leaving them was truly the hardest thing I have ever done. I feel so lucky to live in Nashville but it is so tough not having them here to celebrate the wins and losses with me.”
After sitting down to write the song with singer/songwriter and friend Kinslee Melhorn, the songwriting process soon became somewhat of a sad, venting session. Feniak emphasizes, “In my mind, I was already in Nashville, but my heart was back home. There’s something about leaving a small town where you are excited to make a name for yourself, but with that, you’re also leaving behind all that comfort you’ve known your whole life. It felt like I was abandoning my life, but I am so blessed to have such a supportive circle here that has made it so much easier.”
Having played famed stages, such as the Bluebird Café (Nashville, TN), Feniak has taken her country-edge on the road to many venues, including The Listening Room (Nashville, TN), Cook County Saloon (Edmonton, Alberta), Cowboys (Calgary, Alberta), Calgary Stampede (Calgary, Alberta), Big Valley Jamboree (Camrose, Alberta), and more.
Krissy Feniak keeps her listeners entertained with a style all her own. With a soulful and edgy blend in her voice and a sassy honest tone in her writing she become Alberta's 2018 Horizion Youth Award Winner, 2019 Rising Star Award Winner, and 2018-2021 Female Artist of the year nominee. Krissy has been performing on stages all over Canada and the US since she was just 10 years old. "There is something about being on a stage and connecting with an audience that just feeds my soul. The energy that you get from a crowd thats having fun, is like no other feeling in the entire world," according to Krissy.
