Matt Hodges

Matt Hodges is a singer songwriter from Wakefield, West Yorkshire.  With a voice that has been likened to the husky, emotional delivery of Chris Stapleton and Aaron Lewis, Hodges' songwriting comes straight from the heart.

West Yorkshire born singer/songwriter Matt Hodges has released his new single "Outlaw" following the success of his last release "Proud To Be Me". Outlaw was written one night after having a conversation about authenticity and being true to your values and life experiences.   As Matt recalls, “I was having a conversation with a radio DJ about my songs sounding too “American” and he suggested I write a song about my life. The song is a true representation of what I like doing. ‘Fishing in the morning, drinking in the afternoon, stay up late with my guitar.’ I do all of this on a regular basis and I’m proud to say this song came from the heart, laying bare my everyday experiences. The irony being, instead of sounding less American Country, it makes me sound even more American Country!”

The production of "Outlaw" reminds a little of a Brothers Osborne tune with its bold sound treading the line between Country and Rock. It is a fun, upbeat party tune that will get people on the dance floor and singing along in no time. "Outlaw" was recorded, produced and mixed by Lewis Fowler at Summerland Studio with some of the track also being recorded with Jake Stanton at Big Fig Studios. The song has a rocky foundation built upon with interwoven guitar parts underlined by a powerful drum beat. The vocal production shines throughout the arrangement and reminds of a younger Chris Stapleton, perfectly balancing Matt’s husky and heartfelt tones with the strong delivery that is needed in the choruses.

On the 22nd of October Matt will be showcased the song for the first time at Velvet Bar, Wakefield with his full band consisting of Simon Hant on Drums, Liam Rothery on guitar, Morgan Smith on Bass and Ross Moore on keyboards. The band also have several other key performances  under their belt, such as  the Buck and Bull Halloween Party on the 30th of October in London and an appearance at the next Round Up London which was hosted by Americana/Country duo,  Two Ways Home.

Heavily influenced by artists such as Brantley Gilbert and Jason Aldean, Matt Hodges' sound is firmly rooted in the Country/Americana genre and he has performed extensively around the UK, Europe and the USA. Some of his biggest performances to date have included appearances at Nashville Meets London, The London Marathon at Canary Wharf and the NFL Draft 2019, on Broadway, Nashville(USA) in front of 700,000 people.

Matt is known for his energetic performances and is firmly anchored and experienced in the live music scene. As the pandemic made it hard to get out on the road Matt finally had the time to concentrate on original music and released his debut single 'How Could You' in October 2020, which soared on streaming platforms. His next three singles, 'Forever With You', 'When We Were Young', and 'Proud To Be Me' all peaked at No 1. on the UK iTunes Country Charts and have all been added to playlists across platforms. But releasing music wasn’t enough for Matt, he also started to attract attention with his extensive live streams on Facebook, where his following has grown significantly over the past year.

As Matt Hodges starts to make waves in the UK Country scene, his newly released single Outlaw,  has him honing in on the sound that best represents him.   Matt Hodges will continue to thrill audiences around the globe with his outrageous talents.
